All third grade students from Wayne, Union, Randolph, Henry, Jay, Rush, Franklin and Fayette Counties in Indiana and Darke, Preble and Butler Counties in Ohio are invited to attend a free one-hour symphony concert in Civic Hall Performing Arts Center. Before the concert, teachers are encouraged to use the educational materials provided below to prepare their students for the concert. The children learn about all sections of the orchestra and how they fit together to perform as a group.

The orchestra performs excerpts from Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5, Copland’s Rodeo, and Mozart’s The Magic Flute, among others. The highlight of the concert is when a few children have the opportunity to conduct the orchestra.

In recent years, this very popular concert (repeated twice in one morning) has seen audience attendance near 1,800. With limited seating, plan to notify the office in the spring of your intent to attend.

Colors of the Symphony is proudly sponsored by the Ronald L. McDaniel Foundation
