RSO Sunset Series

richmond symphony orchestra's brass section

Thanks to the generous support of 3Rivers, Wayne County Foundation, and Better Homes & Gardens, the RSO was able to provide guests a safe way to witness the magic of our musicians in some of Richmond’s finest venues.

During a time where many orchestras are struggling to stay afloat due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Richmond Symphony Orchestra has continued to find new ways to bring creative performances to its community. The RSO’s Sunset Series has been a breath of fresh air not only for our audience, but also for the musicians. Having multiple chamber ensembles perform outdoors for our audience members while also being able to enjoy the scenes of our local parks has not only done wonders for our community, but has also given the musicians multiple performance opportunities in a time of continued uncertainty. The Richmond Symphony Orchestra is a true gem for its community and its musicians! — Matt Gray, Principal Tuba

It was really fun listening to all different kinds of music and seeing all the instruments. We even heard songs that we knew – like ‘Call Me Maybe’ and a.song from the Lion King! The concert was so fun! We saw our music teacher there, too! — Greyson (age 7), Eleanor (age 6), and Harper (age 6)

It was so enjoyable combining our local arts, nature, and family time. It was so peaceful and relaxing, The Sunset Series allows our community to experience our wonderful Symphony in a unique, accessible, and even interactive setter. It’s great for the entire family! — The Painter Family
