Joseph Van Fleet has been on the faculty of Eastern Kentucky University since 2006 and was appointed international instructor of trumpet at the Academia de Trompetes in Sao Paula, Brazil in 2017. Prior to teaching at EKU, he had been the instructor of trumpet at Indiana University. He holds degrees from Murray State University (BME) and Indiana University (MM and DM).
In addition to teaching, Joseph maintains an active performing career. He currently holds the second trumpet position with both the Richmond Symphony and Lexington Philharmonic Orchestras. He also performs often with the Kansas City Symphony. When not performing or teaching, he enjoys running and visiting beautiful Richmond, Indiana.
