This first event of our Sunset Series is going to be a unique experience! This is a program that begins at 5:30 and will last between one and a half to two hours. A Day In The Life will highlight the story of Gennett Records, and it’s impact on music and Richmond. So you will want to be there for the whole experience! We will have some activities in place to help kids feel engaged, so bring your lawn chairs, and rest comfortably during the show! Parking is limited so we will have shuttle services running from the Division of Family Services and Well Care parking lots just up the hill! Just Smokin’ food truck, Ullery’s Ice Cream and drinks provided by Smiley’s will be on site! So bring your lawn chairs and tell your friends, we will see you down in the gorge!

The acclaimed Sock Joplin Trio joins the Richmond Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet to kick off the 2025 RSO Sunset Series. Pianist Joshua Thompson, composer/saxophonist Jared Thompson, and multi-genre vocalist PsyWrn Simone masterfully blend classical music, bebop, neo-soul, and hip-hop with compelling musical storytelling about the rich history of Gennett Records. Drawing on their renowned charisma and musical aptitude, “A Day in the Life” offers audiences a glimpse into these magnetic artists while elevating the transformative role of Gennett Records in music and culture. Selections from Florence Price, Oswald Russell, Duke Ellington, Margaret Bonds, Hoagy Carmichael, Quincy Jones and original compositions serve as the soundtrack to the musical legacy of Richmond, Indiana.
